Great Blue Heron

Great Blue Herons are so patient. Watching them you get a sense of just what quiet vigilance means. You will often see them on the boardwalk at Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Area. They pay the multitude of visitors no mind, just a stones throw away. If you look closely you’ll see the blue of the bill seems to be pealing up and the feathers on its chest are pink.
